Someone asked me if I had made any New Years Resolutions, and I was able to answer “To get Married!”.

Julia and I went cross-country skiing on New Years with a couple of church friends. We went to Trillium Lake, just at the base of Mt. Hood, and set off around the lake. The trail was full of beautiful scenery and fresh snow, and as we came around the lake, we took a break for lunch. After lunch, I announced, “I’m going exploring” and as expected, Julia quickly shouted that she wanted to join me. We ran off down the trail, leaving our ski buddies in the dust.  It was a little work to finally find a spot away from people, but when we did, I announced that I had a gift. It was really an engagement ring and letter, and I asked Julia to marry me. She said yes on the spot. After enjoying the moment we went and rejoined our friends. Here are a few pictures they took, recreating the moment.

Julia doesn't imagine the fun coming her way

Our gift box

And what is the box holding...

I promise it fits

She said "YES!"

    To Jeff and Julia:
God bless you both! So excited to hear your wonderful news. I am very much looking forward to meeting Julia…so sorry I had to miss doing so over the holidays, but illness prevented it, I’m afraid.
I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness and great minitries together as you both live for the Lord.
Love, Lois (Jeff’s 5th or 6th grade Sunday School teacher)

      Hey Jeff,
I should’ve known my lovely little sister would say “yes!” to a cool outdoorsman with a warm smile & heart. Congratulations! Your goal now has to be maximizing the fun of wedding & reception planning / prep – no easy task. I pray this challenge will bring you & Julia closer as friends & life partners. You both have all my love & support. Go J team!
